Interpretive Data
The concentration of acetaminophen in serum or plasma depends on the time of drug ingestion; concomitant drug therapy; sample condition; time of sample collection; and individual variations in absorption, distribution, biotransformation, and excretion. These parameters must be considered when interpreting results.
Toxic manifestations have been observed at serum concentrations >100 ug/mL; however, the toxic range is generally reported at >200 ug/mL.
Toxic concentrations can be more effectively related to post-dose interval; >200, >100, and >50 ug/mL serum concentrations correspond to toxic concentrations at 4, 8, and 12 hours post-dose, respectively.
