Ordering and Associated Tests

  • Communicate the need for AHF to the SVMC Laboratory Blood Bank.
    • Lab will order.
  • AHF is measured in international units (IU) of activity.
  • Dosage depends on patient's weight and the severity of the hemophilia.
  • There are no associated blood bank tests.

Day(s) Performed

Monday - Sunday

  • One dose routinely stocked and available for issue within 15 minutes. Additional doses must be special ordered by contacting Blood Bank. They will then be available within 24-48 hours.
  • The transfusionist will reconstitute the dry concentrate at patient's bedside per provided instructions.
  • Administer within one hour. Do not refrigerate after reconstitution
