Collection Instructions

Stool should be passed into a clean dry container. Do not let urine or water come into contact with stool specimen. Open the Orange cap container provided (Cary-Blair transport) and using the collection spoon built into the lid place small scoopfuls of stool into the contaner until the contents rise to the red line. Do not overfill.

For rectal swabs, pass the tip of an Aerobic Transport swab approximately one (1) inch beyond the anal sphincter. Carefully rotate the swab to sample the anal crypts, and withdraw the swab.

Collect multiple specimens at least one day apart since organisms may be shed intermittently.
