All test results should be interpreted in conjunction with the individual's clinical presentation, history, and other laboratory results.
NonReactive: Negative for HIV-1 antigen and negative for anti-HIV-1/2 antibodies. No further testing needed.
Reactive: Repeatedly reactive samples must be confirmed according to CDC recommended confirmatory algorithms. The sub results for either HIVAG or AHIV can be used as an aid in the selection of the confirmation algorithm for reactive samples.
Testing is performed using Elecsys HIV Duo, an electrochemiluminescence immunoassay, for the in-vitro simultaneous qualitative detection and differentiation of HIV1 p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV, HIV-1, and HIV-2 human serum and plasma.
