Collection Instructions

 

 

  1. Obtain a Hemoccult Occult Blood Slide and follow instructions.
    • For accurate test results, apply sample from bowel movement collected on three different days to slide, using a different slide for each day.
      • Do not collect sample if blood is visible in your stool or urine (e.g. menstruation, active hemorrhoids, or urinary tract infection). Contact your doctor.
        • For the most accurate test results collect each stool sample before contact with the toilet bowl water. Use any clean dry container.
          • Return completed slide(s) to your doctor or laboratory no later than 14 days after your first sample collection. Multiple specimens are to be submitted together after last specimen obtained.
