Additional Information
The Vaginal Panel supplied by Becton Dickinson (BD) is a comprehensive diagnostic test that directly detects the 3 most common infectious causes of vaginitis - bacterial vaginosis (BV), vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) and Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) - in one test, with one swab. This test utilizes nucleic acid amplification technology (NAAT) to provide 5 distinct qualitative yes/no diagnoses for:
1. Bacterial vaginosis (through an algorithmic approach that accounts for six different bacteria: Lactobacillus crispatus, Lactobacillus jensenii, Atopobium vaginae, Megasphaera-1, BVAB2, and Gardnerella vaginalis),
2. Candida group
3. Candida glabrata
4. Candida krusei
5. Trichomonas vaginalis.
