Collection Instructions

Collect stool sample in clean, dry container. Deliver to lab within 1 hour.

If rectal swab must be used to collect specimen DIRECT SMEAR SHOULD BE MADE IMMEDIATELY after specimen collection.

Pass the tip of the sterile swab approximately 1 inch beyond the anal sphincter.

Gently rotate the swab to sample the anal crypts, then withdraw swab.

Roll the swab over a microscope slide, making a thin area about the size of a quarter in the center of the slide. ALLOW SLIDE TO DRY BEFORE placing in slide holder.
