Important Note

Do not submit specimen in Cary-Blair Media

Fresh stool less than one (1) hour old. 

Avoid contamination with Urine.

Deliver to laboratory ASAP.

Collection Instructions

    1. Collect stool sample in clean, dry container. Deliver to lab within 1 hour.

    2. If rectal swab must be used to collect specimen DIRECT SMEAR SHOULD BE MADE IMMEDIATELY after specimen collection.

    3. Pass the tip of the sterile swab approximately 1 inch beyond the anal sphincter.

    4. Gently rotate the swab to sample the anal crypts, then withdraw swab.

    5. Roll the swab over a microscope slide, making a thin area about the size of a quarter in the center of the slide. ALLOW SLIDE TO DRY BEFORE placing in slide holder.
