Collection Instructions

Absorb exudate from vaginal, cervical or urethral discharge onto cotton or Dacron swab, or aspirate material with pipette.

Break off swab or inoculate specimen into a 0.5mL sterile saline tube.

Bring to laboratory IMMEDIATELY.

Detection of Trichomonas is dependent upon observing motility; therefore, it is IMPERATIVE that the specimen be examined IMMEDIATELY after collection; failure to do so may result in false negative results.
Special Handling
Detection of Trichomonads is dependent upon observation of motility.
Therefore, it is imperative that the specimen be brought to the laboratory IMMEDIATELY after collection.
