Collection Instructions

  1. Absorb exudate from vaginal, cervical or urethral discharge onto cotton or Dacron swab, or aspirate material with pipette.

  2. Break off swab or inoculate specimen into a 0.5mL sterile saline tube.

  3. Bring to laboratory IMMEDIATELY.

  4. Detection of Trichomonas is dependent upon observing motility; therefore, it is IMPERATIVE that the specimen be examined IMMEDIATELY after collection; failure to do so may result in false negative results.
