Important Note

A urine sediment exam is automatically performed on all UAR specimens that are positive for leukocyte esterase, protein, blood, or nitrite.

A urine culture will be automatically performed if the UAR is positive for nitrates or leukocyte esterase; or if the urine sediment shows the presence of bacteria, yeast, or WBCs
